Coaching is the art of believing in people in order to help empower them to change.
My method of coaching is one in which I trust that God works in people’s lives more than any personal advice I can give them. Through prayer, listening, asking questions, looking at God’s Word, and trusting in His work, I allow Him to accomplish what He wants in people’s lives. Change happens as you cooperate with Him and have a coach walking with you, loving you for who you are and believing unconditionally.
“That is what Jesus does for us – He sees in us who we were made to be and loves us for who we are. Coaching is a conscious imitation of the way that Christ looks at us and the way that God develops leaders. It’s a relationship centered on helping people discover and fulfill their destiny.” -Tony Stoltzfus
How is Coaching Different than Counseling?
Coaching is a support structure for the change you are longing for in your life. It’s about focusing forward with biblical truth, not about therapy and healing from the past.
Coaching and counseling are both one-on-one relationships focused on growing. However, counseling can concentrate on helping people get well from the past, whereas coaching works with people who want to further improve their lives going forward through goal setting and accountability. The work we do together is action and goal-oriented all driven by God (through His Word and prayer) and you, the client.
